The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said that people should continue to expect surprises in their lives.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye (left), described by Newsweek as “one of the most successful preachers in the world” in the magazine’s top 50 most powerful people, is also the leader of Nigeria’s largest congregation.

He was addressing thousands of people from diverse backgrounds at the annual Holy Ghost Rally held recently by the church’s Irish branch at the RDS in Dublin.

During his opening remarks at the rally, under the theme ‘divine surprises’, Pastor Adeboye prayed to God to bless everyone, meet every need, save souls, heal [and] set the captives free.”

He also called for patience in achieving these aims. “The purpose of God for your life will still be fulfilled but most of the time he springs surprises just to show that he’s sovereign,” he said. “Your blessings will never cease.”

The RCCG leader called from the pulpit for a revival of Christianity in Ireland.

“A Holy Ghost Rally normally is supposed to last not more than two hours. But when you come to Ireland, two hours can end up being 12 hours,” he said, making note of the “wonderful people” he met during his visit.

Speaking after the event, which attracted more than 5,000 people from different nationalities across Ireland, the national pastor of RCCG Ireland told Metro Éireann that he was pleased with how the day turned out.

“The atmosphere was very peaceful - people felt the peace of God … things seamlessly fell into place,” said Pastor Tunde Oke.
