Amaechi Obi: Drastic Measures to Save Nations

Do you know that peace, unity and harmony are some of the free gifts of nature? Did you know that you do not need to look outside yourself to find them? They are so deeply internalised, there is no way anyone can create or remove them. They are necessary ingredients of the entire essence of human being. To know what or who you are without bias, see any child within the first few years of their life. You will observe without effort how happy, enthusiastic and optimistic they are. They tend to live and act out of tune with our social norms and regulations. They constantly invent, explore, exploit and question in line with their divine spirit of enthusiasm and harmony. At that age, our children are the light that warms our homes. But why is that easy, natural and possible for them to be at ease with their lives, and so hard for their parents and other adults within the same scope? Every parent must have noticed how their children offer resistance over commands for them to do anything, like taking a bath or eating their greens or even getting up for school. Where does this resistance come from? It’s their unwillingness to be disconnected from their inner soul and source. As we grow older into adulthood, our inability to live on tune with our inner souls due to various social rules and regulations and expectations becomes cause of self, national and global disharmony, and indeed the lost of peace and unity in every community today as we have it. This long disconnection of human beings from their divine design creates irreparable malfunction in the human psyche. In order to have peace, unity and harmony, we must structure rules and regulations that can show us how to remain connected to our childhood mode going up the ladder of growth without deliberate attempts to indoctrinate or subvert the dictates of our individual minds. Our academic, social and economic systems should be in harmony with the entire human machine in all aspects. Our growth from birth to adulthood must remain connected with how we think, behave and live in natural harmony. Keeping life in balance The act of keeping and maintaining balance is one of the most difficult tasks for any human. There is no room for mistake, we either balance or we fall, but we must also remember that mistakes are never failures unless they are accepted but not corrected. Our mistakes are our divine teacher at work; that is why early children and teenagers relish in their mistakes and curiosity. Love, peace, unity and harmony, as well as sound health, are divinely nourished through the mistakes we make, the adventures we engage in. Nevertheless, you should know that when you are not acting out of enthusiasm, there can be no peace, unity or harmony in your life. Most of our human education, our cultural heritage, the ways we think and act run contrary to the divine grand design of our human mechanism. This disconnection between childhood and adulthood is the main cause of disharmony in every global community. This same disconnection is why we seek for peace, unity and harmony away from our inner souls. This also makes it nearly impossible to achieve pure peace and harmony. If we could do away with the old ways, and in their place embrace a collective agreement when enacting rules to regulate our lives within the context of our diversity, only then could we truly live in unity, peace and harmony. To have those gifts in our lives, we must sacrifice for them.
