Indian singer and actor Harbhajan Mann is to play his first live concert in Ireland when he comes to Dublin next month.

The Punjabi entertainer and film producer has been delighting his fans for over 20 years, and has some 1.45 million Facebook followers – not to mention 50 million overall views on YouTube for his music performances.

Organisers of the show, on Friday 23 March at the Church of Scientology and Community Centre in Firhouse, said the concert is part of Mann’s world tour with the theme of ‘Tin Rang’ – after one of his hit songs – and is dedicated to the Indian and Pakistani communities in Ireland.

“The concert theme appeals to all generations and will have three parts, focusing on entertaining all youth, families and elderly alike,” said Gursharan Singh of promoters GK Entertainment. “It’s been quite long that there has not been such social gathering and entertainment on a mass scale for a niche ethnic community.

“This initiative has now got big popularity and many local community groups such as Telagu, Tamil, Punjabi and Pakistani communities have now come along not to only participate but voluntarily support this to their best.”

Singh said the concert will include a number of multicultural stage shows and competitions. “It will also showcase kids’ fancy dress and a dance programme, too, as well as highlight different ethnic dress as the event theme is traditional.”

Expected to feature at the concert ahead of Mann is Shamrock Bhangra, with traditional folk dance, and Indian ethnic dance Bharat-Natyam.

Singh says the event aims to promote “unity in diversity” by representing various Indian cultures, religions and Festivals such as Ugadi, Gudi Parwa, Durga Puja, Easter and Baishaki, all of which are celebrated in March or April.

“Different delicacies straight from the oven, various ethnic and street foods will also accompany the world class entertainment to add more flavours of enjoyment,” he adds.
